Arin is a native of the Berkshires and was influenced greatly by two of the most beloved aspects of the area: the arts and the natural environment. Arin started dancing at a young age and followed this interest well into her college career. She graduated with a double major in Dance and Human Development with an emphasis in Ecopsychology from Prescott College in AZ. When Arin discovered the field of dance/movement therapy, she knew this was the perfect fit for her; a joining of her desire to help others with her passion for dance and belief in the power of movement.
Arin received her Masters degree from Antioch University New England in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Registered Dance/Movement therapist. Arin has worked as a therapist in outpatient, inpatient and college settings. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents as well as adults and families. Some of the concerns that Arin works with include anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, and issues involving relationships, identity and life transitions. She also has experience treating substance abuse and eating disorders.
Arin believes in treating the whole person: body, mind and spirit. She has found that using expressive art therapies, body-based interventions and mindfulness, in addition to talk therapy, is the most effective approach to developing and sustaining wellness. Arin also has found great therapeutic value in nature, gardening and awakening one’s connection to the earth and is excited to help others tap in to this rich resource for healing. She loves to sink her hands into the earth and dance softly on the grass…and it brings her great joy to watch her 1 and 3 year old boys as they discover these same simple yet extraordinary pleasures.
